The 2023 Grande Cuvée, Cuvée Leah, from Château Petit-Freylon in Saint-Genis-du-Bois, Entre-deux-Mers, the same estate behind our Cuvée Michael red and Cuvée Marguerite white. This is the château's top red bottling, a blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the classic Bordeaux style.

Expect ripe cherries and mixed black and blue berries on the nose, with French vanilla and a light touch of spice. The palate brings blackberry, dark plum, chocolate, and baking spice, with a tight, tarry texture finishing on dark fruit and coffee. James Suckling scored the 2023 vintage 89 points, praising its sweet spices, coffee, and ripe currants. A serious Bordeaux red at a genuinely approachable price.
